Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program standards and procedures

The Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education Programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures outline national requirements for teaching degrees.

To support quality teaching in NSW schools and advance the status of the teaching profession, all initial teacher education programs in NSW undergo a rigorous accreditation process coordinated by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES). In the lead up to program accreditation, BOSTES works collaboratively with providers to ensure their teaching degrees reflect the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education programs in Australia - Standards and procedures (PDF 289 KB) and the  Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (PDF 2.2 MB).

To be eligible for provisional accreditation to teach in NSW schools, teachers must have graduated from an accredited NSW or interstate teaching degree.
