Accreditation with the NSW Institute of Teachers

If you commenced teaching in NSW after 1st October 2004, are intending to teach in NSW shortly, or are returning to teach in NSW after an absence of 5 years or more, you will need to be accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers.  The first level of accreditation is 'at the point of employment'.

Information about gaining accreditation at the point of employment can be found here .  See also Information for Prospective Teachers (pdf).

The Institute will send you your accreditation number and an information package after your application for accreditation has been determined by the TAA and all paperwork forwarded to the Institute.

If you are a returning teacher or an experienced teacher who is commencing work in NSW, the documents found here may be useful to you and your school.

If you can not find the information you require on this site, or have any other questions, please call 1300 739 338 or email us .
