Accreditation 2016 - Professional Recognition for NSW Early Childhood Teachers
From 18 July 2016, it became a requirement for all NSW early childhood teachers working in long day care and preschools to be accredited.
Proficient Teacher Accreditation
If you were employed as an early childhood teacher (ECT) prior to 1 October 2016, you can apply to be accredited at Proficient Teacher. You must supply all of the following documents:
certified copies (Justice of the Peace signed) of your ACECQA approved or recognised teaching qualification
- certified copies of two forms of identification, eg drivers licence, passport or birth certificate (and a marriage certificate if applicable)
evidence of a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance to allow for verification
a signed Statement of Service from your employer on letterhead, verifying your employment as an early childhood teacher or director in a NSW early childhood education and care service (please ensure the letter confirms the dates you have been working as an ECT at that service).

If you have gained or are seeking employment for the first time as an ECT after the 1 October 2016 and have completed an ACECQA recognised or ACECQA approved early childhood qualification, you should apply for Provisional Accreditation.
You will receive an email confirmation of your accreditation and this should be shown to employers when you apply for a position as an ECT.
If you are in the final year of an ACECQA approved or ACECQA recognised ECT qualification, you can apply for conditional accreditation. When you provide evidence that you have completed all requirements for award of your degree, you status will be updated to Provisional.
