The Institute’s Policy and Procedures for Approval of Initial Teacher Education Programs was approved by the Minister for Education and Training in July 2006.


Supplementary Documentation

The above policy and procedures are supported by the following Supplementary Documentation relating to aspects of the Graduate Teacher Standards:

1.          Mandatory Areas of Study

Supplementary Documentation relating to the following Mandatory Areas was approved by the Minister in May 2007:

  • Literacy education
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education
  • Non-English Speaking Background (NESB) education
  • Special Education
  • Challenging behaviours / classroom management
  • Information and communication technologies

2.         Subject Content Requirements
