How do I take a Leave of Absence from accreditation?

If you cease teaching in NSW anywhere from 6 months to 5 years, you can take a 'Leave of Absence' from accreditation with the NSW Institute of Teachers. You’ll find the policy and application forms here.

  • Fax the application form to 02 9268 6313, or
  • Email us. Include the dates you will be away and the reason you require a leave of absence (eg. maternity leave, travel, alternative employment, etc).

We will email you when we have processed your application .  

How do I withdraw from the NSW Institute of Teachers?

If you wish to withdraw from the NSW Institute of Teachers, please email us.

Once your accreditation has been withdrawn, you will no longer be permitted to practice teaching in NSW. If your situation changes, you may need to reapply for accreditation. Therefore, it’s important you contact us immediately.
