My teacher status
1. If you are seeking to become a new teacher in NSW, have just become a new teacher in NSW, or are returning to teaching in NSW after an absence of 5 years or more, you are classified as a 'New Scheme Teacher'.
All New Scheme Teachers need to be accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers at the point of employment.
2. If you are already accredited with us (i.e. you have an accreditation number), but do not have a login, please select "I am accredited without a login", and then enter your accreditation number.
3. If you are a referee, please select "I am a referee without a login".
4. If you are currently a teacher and are seeking accreditation at the Higher Levels of Professional Accomplishment or Leadership, please select "I am seeking accreditation at Professional Accomplishment or Leadership".
I cannot select a school from the drop-down list
Occasionally a slow connection may prevent the school drop-down list from appearing, which means you cannot create a new account. This is a temporary problem that we will be looking to fix asap.
However, if this happens to you in the meantime, please email the Institute with the following information:
1. Are you seeking accreditation at the point of employment? (i.e. are you a new teacher or returning to teaching after an absence of 5 years)
2. Your full name
3. Your address
4. Your date of birth
5. Home or mobile phone number
6. Email address
7. What school sector you are applying to initially (i.e. Catholic, independent or DET)?
8. Your mother's maiden name, or the name of your favourite pet.
9. The username and password you would like.
We will then complete the application for you and email you confirmation when this is complete.
