Highly Accomplished Teacher positions for Teacher Quality National Partnership

2 Oct 2009

The appointment of Highly Accomplished Teacher positions in NSW Government schools is a component of the NSW plan for the Teacher Quality National Partnership. Applications for these positions will require a preliminary online application for Professional Accomplishment or Professional Leadership from the Institute of Teachers.

In response to increased numbers of applications, the Institute is undertaking more frequent assessments in October and November 2009. Teachers considering applying for a HATs position will need to complete their preliminary assessment online no later than 9.00 am, 4 November 2009 to ensure reports are received before applications close.

Information on accreditation processes at Professional Accomplishment and Professional Leadership can be found in Accreditation - Policies & Manual.

There are three Smarter Schools National Partnership agreements (Teacher Quality, low SES School Communities, Literacy and Numeracy). Government, Catholic and Independent schools in NSW will share in National Partnerships funds to recognise and reward quality teaching. Recognition of Teacher Quality is linked to the Institute's Professional Teaching Standards at the levels of Professional Accomplishment and Professional Leadership.
