Research Digest - First Edition!

25 Oct 2007

 NSWIT Issue 1 07 - 422 KB

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) has developed a Research Digest on behalf of the Institute for accredited teachers. The Digest is to be distributed to accredited teachers on a quarterly basis and includes current national and international research that has implications for teaching in the NSW context.

The Digest is designed to describe the relationship between the research and teaching practice and to provide a tangible benefit for teachers involved in the accreditation process.

Each edition of the Digest will focus on a single issue and is a synthesis of current and relevant information rather than summaries of individual studies. The Digest comprises the following sections:

    • an introduction outlining the importance of the topic;
    • a summary of the main issues, including the key research findings;
    • the implications for teaching in a NSW context; and
    • a guide to further references and additional reading.

The Institute is currently developing reference groups to assess the contents of the Digests prior to publication. The reference group will include new scheme teachers and non-new scheme teachers (preferably Principals). More detail on the reference groups and how to participate in them can be found under Working at the Institute - Working Parties and Committees, here.
