Accreditation at Professional Competence

Overview

Accreditation at Professional Competence is the second (mandatory) level of accreditation, following accreditation at the point of employment.

It is important that you make sure you have a supervisor who is aware that you are seeking accreditation at Professional Competence.

Evidence for the accreditation decision can be collected on an ongoing basis. This evidence comes directly from your work as a teacher and is made up of authentic teaching documents (see below for examples).

The NSWIT support document Information for New Scheme Teachers describes the accreditation process in detail. You would also have received a copy of this in your welcome pack.

Please feel free to contact the Institute with any questions you might have.

Preparing your Accreditation for Professional Competence Report

Are you preparing the evidence that will accompany your Accreditation Report?

Remember that this evidence is a 'snapshot'. It should fit comfortably into ONE plastic sleeve.

You do not need to provide documentary evidence for every Standard.
