The Quality Teaching Council consists of the Institute's Chair, plus 10 appointed and 10 elected members.
The 2009 Quality Teaching Council Election
Elections for the second QTC were conducted in 2009 by the NSW Electoral Commission.

The next election will be held in 2012.
Who can vote?
To be eligible for placement on the electoral list a person must be employed as a teacher in NSW, or was employed as a teacher in NSW in the 3 years prior to the next QTC election date.
Also eligible for placement on the list are people who are qualified, but not employed, as teachers who are members of the Institute's staff, the Department of Education and Training, or the Board of Studies. A full list of other people eligible for placement can be found in the Institute of Teachers Regulation, Part 3 Section 11.
Term of Office
Elected members are elected for terms of 3 years. Members may only serve 2 terms.
